Amateur Chemistry Lab has two new products: Lip Sugars and Liquid Soaps.

Lip Sugars are an exfoliating scrub that removes dry skin from your lips.  Rub the Lip Sugar on your lips, then either lick or wipe off.  The lip sugars are made with frosting flavoring and are pretty tasty!

The liquid soap can be used for washing hands or bodies.  Currently, the liquid soap comes in three fragrances: almond, beech breezes and plumeria.

Side to Side Pullover for Women

# 124 – Side to Side Pullover for Women

The easiest summer sweater pattern I know! A simple garter stitch rectangle, with unshaped openings for head and arms. The sleek shaping is formed by the drape of the loosely knit fabric. Uses worsted weight yarn on big needles at a gauge of 14 sts to 4 inches. Shown in cotton, it has cap sleeves, or optional short sleeves. Side seams are sewn. Finished measurements of 30 to 50 inches.

This would be great worked in Casablanca, Pima Silk, Cotton Supreme, and Good Earth.

Many Shields Shetland Lace Scarf

This scarf is made in the shetland style of lace knitting. The center (the shields) section is worked from a provisional cast on to the desired length. Then stitches are picked up around the edges, four stitches are provisionally cast on and those four stitches are used to create a simple increase then cast of tooth edging. A small grafting (kitchener’s stitch) is used to ‘sew’ the provisional cast on stitches and the final 4 edge stitches together to make a seamless edging around the center.
The body lace pattern has no rest rows (i.e. every row is a pattern row) but is worked entirely in garter stitch (there are no purls). The directions are written out as well as charted to allow you to work in the method that works best for you.
This pattern could be worked in a heavier yarn with a larger needle. I would not go heavier than fingering weight. There are instructions for adjusting the pattern to make it narrower with that can be used with the heavier yarn to keep the scarf from becoming too wide. They also explain how to make it wider if you would like to make it into a stole.

Yarn Suggestions - Poems Sock, Saki Bamboo, Whisper Lace, Alpaca Lace, Heritage, Kid Seta, Cherub Baby, Baby Ull, On Line Supersocke, or Huasco yarns.

Tie Dyeing and Yarn Dyeing
29 June, 10 - 12
Fee - $20 - includes dyes and detergents.

In this class you will learn how to spell “Tie Dye”

This class if for EVERYONE! Kids and their parents are welcome.

The dyes used are NON-TOXIC fiber reactive dyes. This means we will be
doing CHEMISTRY! There is a covalent bond between the dye molecule and
the cellulose in the fiber. I may try to get you excited about chemistry.

Supplies
Please wear “craft” clothes in case you get dye on them. This is not too
likely. I have tie dyed with hundreds of very young children with rare
splashes.

Please bring a pair of kitchen gloves that fit you. Metzger’s or Smith’s
sell a couple types of gloves. The thin nitrile ones will work also.

You will have time to dye 2 items so you may do 1 of each shirt and yarn or 2 yarns or 2 shirts.

Please bring 100% white cotton pre-washed t-shirts if you wish
to dye t-shirts. I will have some t-shirts available the day of the class for direct
purchase from me. (Cash or check)
If you wish to dye yarn please bring white or very light colored
100% cotton, linen, silk or rayon yarn wound in a dye skein (This is a
circle of yarn, like a coiled rope.) Polyester, acrylic and nylon will
not work! They have no bonding sites for this dye. Suggested yarn Cotton Supreme, Good Earth, and Ultra Pima all available at the store.

Any questions PLEASE call me! Stephanie Hagelberg 662-7335
