Classes This Week

***Learn to Knit: Dishcloth Series***
Heidi and Katie are teaching a series of dishcloth classes, each focusing on a different skill. During the weeks we are teaching, Heidi will teach a class from 10-11am on Tuesdays, and Katie will teach from 5-6pm on Thursdays. Participants do not need to take both classes; we are hoping to reach all who are interested by offering two different days and times. With exception to the first class, all of the classes are free. The recommended yarn for all of the classes is Cotton Supreme (solids, we don't recommend black while learning) and either a size 7 or 8 needle. We hope to see you there!

 

3.) Cable Dishcloth: Focus on creating cable stitches (don't be intimidated, we promise it isn't as
difficult as it looks!). Prerequisite: mastery of the knit and purl stitches, cast on and bind off.

We asked her a few questions to get to know her better...

1. Please tell us a bit about yourself--your background and what led you to pursue the world of jewelry design/beading.  I worked in science at Los Alamos National Lab for many years doing research.  When I left I began creating with different media. After trying out a few different paths, I bumped into bead work and discovered I  loved it. My bead work changed over the years and still takes side journeys from the work I do with the Thai.  There we make representational earrings and pins.  This project helps support two small villages in Northern Thailand. Presently, I am venturing into bling.
 
2. What inspires your artistic path the most? I see beads and crystals that make me smile and create jewelry from those
 

3. What are you currently most excited about?  Are there any future happenings you are excited about and would like to share? I discovered all that can be done with set swarovski crystals and can't stop creating jewelry that is over-the-top bling.

Playing with Yarn Class Starts Monday

Youth Summer Program, 2013

Playing with Yarn: July 8-12
Instructor: Britton Donharl
During this class, students will have fun playing with yarn in non-traditional ways including using yarn with paint, glue, balloons, and other materials. This class is appropriate for ages five and up. Limit: 8
