Intorduction to Lace Knitting

Introduction to Lace Knitting: Saturday, May 18th; 1-3 p.m.
Fee: $40 includes one skein of hand-dyed dk-weight yarn from Wooly Wonka Fibers, pattern, and two hours of instruction

Description: Learn the basis of lace knitting in this class, which will also feature an introduction to chart-reading. During this class, we'll learn about the typical symbols used in lace charts, how to read those charts and what it will look like translated into knitting. Students will be given an overview of traditional lace-knitting styles, and will work on a simple lace cowl project, which they may take home with them to complete. Learn the basics of yarn-overs and decreases, the building blocks of knitting any lace project! The class fee includes a skein of hand-dyed DK-weight yarn, class handout and pattern. Students will need to bring a US size 6, 16-inch circular needle with them to class. Skills required for the class include basic knit and purl skills, with some basic knowledge of how to knit in the round.
