Hats!

These have been my newest obsession.

Several years ago I designed the v-stitched beanie, but the newsboy cap is a new design for me. I used Cascade's Cherub DK for both of the beanies and Cherub Aran for the newsboy cap. I sure had fun making these little projects! :)

Currently on Hooks and Needles

I haven't exactly been concentrating on one project at a time lately, mostly due to the fact that I've had some new yarn, patterns, and kits come in that I've been excited to try out. I'm wondering if I'm also feeling a bit antsy with summer just around the corner? So, I thought I'd make a list for your viewing pleasure (and perhaps to help myself prioritize). :)

Currently on my Hooks and Needles:

Eva Cardigan by C2Knits
Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool in Coral Pink

Baby Birds (from kit) by Knit Whits

Broadway Scarf (FREE pattern!) using one skein of Broadway yarn

Stratford Circle Afghan (another FREE pattern)
Yarn used: Classic Worsted and Classic Shades

Various baby hats, for no reason in particular (really, there is no reason!). I was in the designing mood and small projects have been suiting my style these days. :)

I hope to have pictures up soon.

For those of you in the area, Warm Hearts Yarn will be having a store-wide sale Tuesday, May 29th through Saturday, June 2nd. A variety of items will be on sale, including yarn, patterns, books, jewelry, and vintage and gift items. We are clearing out to bring more in!

Warmly,
Katie

March and April Garments

I have been slow in updating my progress on my 2012 Garment Goal, but I promise that I have been making progress! :) In March I completed the crocheted Sera Lace Top from The Best of Interweave Crochet. I used Cascade's Superwash Sport, and am very pleased with the result:
In April I completed the Laddered Shell top (#16) found in the spring/summer 2012 edition of Knit Simple. I knitted up the smallest size, which actually turned out to be quite generous. I really like the simplicity of this a-line top. Plus, dropping the stitches at the end was a lot of fun! If you're looking for a top to try as your first garment, I highly recommend this project: fast, fun, and easy!
The pattern calls for Universal's Cotton Supreme, which we do stock at Warm Hearts Yarn. Below is a picture of the colors I currently have in stock, but I'm always happy to special order yarn if there is another color you would like.

Tomorrow, for my WIP Wednesday, I'll be posting about my May project...

Warmly,
Katie

P.S. Warm Hearts Yarn carries all of the above mentioned supplies: The Best of Interweave Crochet, Knit Simple, Cascade Superwash Sport, Universal's Cotton Supreme

New Store Hours

Greetings, The poll regarding store hours (see right sidebar) is now closed, and I have appreciated the feedback from all who voted. By far, the current hours (11am-6pm) received the highest votes. Much of this is due to the fact that those who work until 5:00 or 5:30p.m. like having the option to stop by after work hours. I completely understand and respect that aspect of the store's hours, so we will continue to remain open until 6:00p.m. on most days. I've also heard requests/comments from customers who would like earlier hours so they may stop by before lunch, while running errands, etc. So, we will be opening half and hour early--at 10:30a.m. Mondays will be a bit shorter due to slower traffic on Mondays, but I do plan on remaining open for part of the day. The following hours will start following Memorial Day (we will be closed on Memorial Day): Tuesday-Friday 10:30am-6:00pm Saturday, Monday: 10:30am-3pm Again, thank you for your feedback. Warmly, Katie
