Stop by, get out of the cold, and knit/crochet for a while! We are open today, December 26th, with our usual hours of 10am-6pm. We will also have Stitching Group this evening from 4pm-7pm.

WIP Wednesday

With wild weather earlier in the day and temps plummeting, it was nice to be inside, drinking tea and knitting or crocheting together.

 

Samuel finished his corgi dog in the Ella Ray Chunky.

 

She has a sweet face.

 

He made a small version, too.

 

Doris T. is giving the Marina Glitz ruffle yarn a try.

 

Katie is crocheting a lovely scarf out of the Dolce Merino.

 

Doris P. finished the cutest penguin sweater using the Classic Shades Solids.

 

Theresa is making the Good Luck Cowl in the Eco Duo.

 

She finished Happy Cowliday made with the Eco Duo – simply scrumptious.

 

We had to rip out some of the mitten she has been working on but it is back on track. She handled the ripping like a pro.

 

Joy has half of her Snake Scarf done in the Eco-Duo.

 

Samuel crocheted these slippers.

 

And started some more in the Ultra Pima.

 

Jen is coming back to knitting after a long hiatus and starting off with a lovely cabled hat.

 

I finished another pair of felt clogs.

 

We will be having group next week, Wednesday 4-7, so you can show off all your Christmas knitting.

Bomber Jacket to Knit by Val Love

St. Kilda by Kim Dolce


St. Kilda is my answer to surviving a lowered thermostat. My intention in designing this sweater was just that, to create the perfect sweater to keep me warm at home this winter.

St. Kilda would knit up nicely in Deluxe Worsted Tweed, Casablanca, Poems, Cascade 220, Classic Shades, Pacific, Api, and Cherub Aran.

Portsmouth by Kim Dolce



A splendid turtleneck design in a deeply involving yarn. It's rewarding to make, flattering to wear, and highlights every feminine gene you've got. Form-conscious Dolce has you make the body in the round, then split for front and back. Armholes are deeply indented once, then slightly curved; sleeve caps are proud and high. Shoulders are slightly sloped. It's a gem of a piece, reasonably quick to make in an Aran weight, and with a generous deep spiral rib border at all edges-- gracious and easy, only four rounds or rows high.

Portsmouth would knit up nicely in Deluxe Worsted Tweed, Casablanca, Poems, Classic Shades, Api, and Cherub Aran.

Children’s Mukluk Slippers by Diane Soucy

 

"Snuggly slippers for kids, fast to knit and long wearing in bulky yarn. The tops can be made longer or shorter as you want. Sizes toddler 7 to big kid size 5," says Soucy. (This last translates to a foot length of about 6" to 8".) What is it about her that comes up with such good-looking, kid-friendly, practical pieces? This is going to be one of those things you could make hundreds of, if you were willing-- demand would be that high, and the pattern's that simple. Gauge given over garter stitch. Note that chunky yarn is knitted on smaller needles than usual for extra durability. An adult version is available.

Mukluk Slippers should knit up nicely in Ecological Wool, Deluxe Worsted Tweed, Poems, and Classic Shades.

Children's Bulky Top down Pullover by Diane Soucy



"A snuggly raglan pullover with rolled edges for children sizes 2 through 14," says Soucy. "Fast to knit at a gauge of 12 sts to 4 inches. Edges can be made with ribbing instead of the roll, with no change in stitch counts." Spectacularly easy, gratifying to make, utterly timeless, and looks great on boys or girls-- this is a pattern with universal appeal. Soucy is careful to obviate any possible pitfalls at the outset (because the back neck is worked back-and-forth for a bit so as to lower the front neck), but afterwards all is circular and seam-free bliss.

This sweater would knit up nicely in Country Tweed, Deluxe Chunky, and Pacific Chunky.

Bulky Hooded Vest for Women by Diane Soucy



A nice fast to knit zippered vest written for bulky weight yarn at a gauge of 3 1/2 to the inch. It is slightly fitted. Has directions for a collared version also.

This vest would knit up nicely in Deluxe Chunky, Baby Alpaca Chunky, Ecological Wool, and Pacific Chunky.

Weekend Pullover by Diane Soucy



Soucy: "A super fast sweater to knit, this one makes a perfect first neckdown pullover because all of the loose collar sts are cast on at the beginning. Written for super bulky yarn at 2 stitches to the inch on size 17 needles, you really can finish it in a weekend! No sewing means no bulky seams in this thick yarn. Women's sizes small to x-large. Yarn shown is Burly Spun by Brown Sheep Company. Brittany makes the size 17 needles needed for the sleeves." A traditional winter classic that will never stale.

This sweater would knit up nicely in Ushya, and Classic Shades Big Time.

50% Peruvian Wool, 30% Alpaca, 20% Silk with approx 82 yards per 50g that knits to 4 sts per inch on a US 10 needle.

WIP Wednesday

Kathy is still working on her Geysir Stretch Shawl. She is almost done and it is a beauty.

 

This dragon is too cute. Samuel is a master at making Amigurumi. He is so cute I had to include two pictures.

 

 



 

Samuel is also making a corgi dog out of the Ella Ray Country Tweed. He said it is a good match for the real dog.

 

Joy is making Jen Lucas Mystery Shawl in the Arianrhod Sock by Wooly Wonka Fibers. Lovely yarn with just enough sparkle.

 

Theresa is making a Basic Mitten from I Can’t BelieveI am Knitting Mittens.

 

 

Katie finished her Wee Balaclava – to her boys it is a SUPER HERO MASK. This one goes with his Spiderman costume. Made in very soft and washable Pacific. She is making another one in the Pacific Chunky as a nijia mask.

 

I am still working on my Felt clogs in the 220. I finished fulling them but they still need the embellishment.

 

I am also working on a baby hat in the Cherub Aran Yarn.

 

Group meets on Wednesday from 4 – 7.

WIP Wednesdays

Wow – we had a great crowd at Work In Progress Wednesday this week.

 

 

Kathy L. is zipping through Geysir Stretch. I think this might be some of the yarn she got in Iceland.

 

Valerie has designed her own Assassin’s Creed mitt. She is very creative.

 

Theresa is making the Happy Cowliday. I can’t remember the yarn but it sure looks soft and warm.

 

Theresa is also making the Baby Surprise Jacket with the Casablanca. The colors are going to be fantastic on her daughter.

 

Doris P. is using Katmandu to make the Central Park Hoodie. It has great cables and she has made some modifications to the pattern that really make it stand out.

 

Felicia is coming along with her scarf in ClassicWorsted.

 

 

Pam has the cutest little dogs and this sweater will be sweet on one of them.

 

Kathy is making the Color Block Cardigan for her granddaughter. What little girl wouldn’t love these colors.

 

Avivah is doing the Nutkin socks in the Heritage Pants. I think the pattern is great.

 

Katie is using Pacific to make Wee Balaclava. I love the color.

 

Talk about soft, Joy is making the Snake Scarf from EcoDuo yarn.

 

Joy got her cowl done in the Dulce Merino. It is wonderful. The yarn really shows the stitches and it is very soft.

I am making the Felt Clogs out of Cascade 220. I just need a few minutes to sit down after they get fulled to wear them for a good fit. Class coming in January.
