The Big Guns

What do you do when there are just a few weeks left before the gift-giving begins and you still have several on your list to knit/crochet for? Forget about "slow crafts" and bring out the Big Guns, of course: SUPER-BULKY yarn! While the instant gratification of chunky/bulky yarn (which we do carry quite a bit of, by the way) is pleasing, knitting on size 15 needles (or a size N hook) is a bit more, well, instant.

We currently carry Ushya by Mirasol, which knits at 2-2.5 stitches/inch on size 15 needles. The link provided above also takes you to a page with two free patterns using Ushya (hat below is one of the free patterns).
Universal Yarn's Classic Shades Big Time is another super-bulky yarn we carry at Warm Hearts Yarn. This acrylic/wool blend is soft, machine-washable, and has beautiful variegation. There are several free patterns at the site linked to above, as well as an accompanying booklet of four patterns (two knit and two crochet) we carry at the shop.

I am not one to judge and have my own list of recipients who will be receiving super-bulky gifts this year. Below are a few links to some of my favorite projects (all free!) using super-bulky yarn. Enjoy and good luck! :)

Warmly,
Katie
