Don't Be A Square, Learn to Knit, Afghan Knit-Along, Block one - Cubed - Tuesday

Don't Be  A Square, Learn to Knit, Afghan Knit-Along, Block one - Cubed.
If you know how to knit and purl but are ready for the next step this KAL (Knit-Along) is for you. We will be joining Universal Yarn and Amy Gunderson for this KAL and you will have the added benifit of hands on help from Heidi.

Finished Size? Amy: “Made in Uptown Worsted, each square will be about 8½” square.  The finished afghan will be 4 x 5 squares, or 34” x 42½ ”.  Made in Uptown Baby Sport, the finished size would be about 75% of the size of the worsted afghan. Made in Uptown Bulky, it would be about 30% bigger.”

It’s knitalong time again! Amy Gunderson is guiding us through the Don’t Be A Square Afghan Knitalong. Starting in March, we’ll be featuring a square every other week in Uptown Worsted. The squares will showcase a variety of techniques like cabling, intarsia, and unique textures.
This square is a great basic introduction to intarsia, a method of working blocks of color without carrying your yarn over long stretches across the back of your work.

Tuesday, 8 April, 5:30 - 7
Instructor - Heidi Narum
Fee - Free

Supplies-
At least 4 colors of Uptown worsted or other worsted weight yarn. Color combination ideas. 2 balls of each color.
How much yarn?  Amy: “Each block, barring heavily cabled blocks, will require about 30g of yarn. So the finished 20 blocks will require, at minimum, about 600g or 6 balls. I’d like to recommend preparing for 2 balls of each color if a person is using 5 or 6 colors because the 600g doesn’t take into consideration edging.”
Size 8 knitting needles (or size needed to get guage)
Tapestry needle

Copy of the pattern available here.

Skill level -
You need to know how to knit and purl.
