Fat Quarter Flip Flops

Join Heidi for this free workshop to make flip flops using fat quarters.

Materials:
1 pair of inexpensive flip flops – the kind with plastic straps that attach through the bottom.
1 fat quarter – if your foot is bigger than a woman’s size 8 you will probably need a longer length of fabric – about ¼ yd from the bolt or 4 scraps that will measure 24” x 4”

Tuesday, July 30, 3-4pm

Ages – 13 up through Adults

Introduction to Nuno Felting: Friday, August 2nd, 6-7:30p.m. AND Saturday, August 3rd, 4-7p.m.
Instructor: Anne Podlesak Fee: $55 includes ALL materials: silk chiffon, wool, and embellishments

Class Description: Nuno felting creates gorgeous, lightweight felted fabrics by bonding thin layers of wool fibers to a silk chiffon base. This versatile fabric can be embellished in all sorts of fun ways, and makes a beautiful soft fabric that can be used as a scarf or wrap by itself, or cut and sewn into other garments. This class will discuss techniques used to create nuno felt, as well as allowing class participants plenty of time to experiment and sample on their own scarf-sized project. The class fee will cover all supplies necessary to create a one-of-a-kind scarf to take home with them.
****Note: Please be aware this class requires repetitive use of the upper arms to achieve the felting process. This is a wet felting technique, so class participants should wear clothing they will not mind getting potentially splashed with soapy water, and comfortable shoes, since some standing is involved.****

The Sheep Tote

Two sizes with pockets. Sheep are needle felted after bag is complete.

Woolly sheep decorate these totes. Great for your knitting projects as well as travel, shopping or an everyday carryall. Choose from the small or large size and add as many pockets as you need. Sheep are needle felted (instructions included) after bag is complete.

Finished sizes:

Measurements are approximate. Size will vary with the amount of felting and with different yarns.

Width and depth measurements do not include the ends or bottom of bag.

Small: 9" (23 cm) wide, 8" (20 cm) deep and 3" (9 cm) across ends.

Large: 14" (36 cm) wide, 13" (33 cm) deep and 4" (10 cm) across ends.

Yarn Requirements:

Bulky weight wool that will felt easily and firmly. Approximately 300 (620) yds (374 (567) meters) for a tote with two end pockets. Side pockets require an additional 55 (120) yds (50 (110) meters) per pocket.

Would work well with Eco Wool, Deluxe Chunky, Poems Chunky, and Baby Alpaca Chunky.

Needle Felting Supplies:
Fiber Trends' Natural Roving Pack
Felting Needle Assortment Pack or Needle Felting Starter Kit.

This Just in...

Our very own Anne has 3 patterns in this - she is also going to sign them this weekend!

Look for Wooly Wonka Fibers Ceridwen Sock in Anne's Booth!

The game of Quidditch features prominently in the Harry Potter books. The imagery of Harry’s Firebolt, the golden snitch, and the dragon’s
egg harry retrieves as the first task in the triwizard tournament in Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire as a key step to winning the tournament itself are featured on these socks.
These unisex socks are knit from the cuff down, featuring a standard square heel flap and a wide tapered toe. The motifs are worked in twisted stitches beginning at the cuff ribbing, and running down the leg, onto the foot.
The smallest size used one skein of yarn; the two larger sizes will require two skeins to complete. The length of the foot may be adjusted for a customized fit.

Also check out The Sorcerer's Sweater in Cascade 220.

We can help you substitute yarns for any project - just ask!

Which Came First

Which Came First? It’s a question for the ages. Now you can visualize this timeless conundrum with a most philosophical knitted toy – a reversible chicken and egg!
Knitting and toys go together very well. The three-dimensional effect of knitting in the round makes for a freestanding, huggable new friend, and some simple assembly techniques transform it into an interactive toy.
When you’re feeling confused about something, you can just play with your chicken and egg buddies and imagine what it’s like for them!
Basic pattern techniques include knitting in the round, i-cord, and felting, plus some simple sewing and embroidery.
Finished size: about 5.5 inches tall

Would look nice in Cascade 220, Eco Duo, and Poems.
